New prize for Garthorpe Top Horse

Fairman Knight and Sons have sponsored a new initiative to cover the four Point-to-Points at Garthorpe Races this season. Garthorpe is the premier course in the East Midlands some 6 miles east of market town of Melton Mowbray ‘the Rural Capital of Food’, and just off the A1 between Grantham and Stamford.

There are four Point-to-Points at Garthorpe, the Cottesmore on Sunday 23rd November, the Melton Hunt Club on Sunday 1st February, the Belvoir on Saturday 21st March and the Quorn on Saturday 25th April.

The Top Horse competition will based on a points system with the winner of any race getting 10 points, the second 8 points, the third 6 points and the fourth 4 points with an unplaced runner receiving 2 points. If a horse walks over it will receive 3 points. The horse receiving the most points after the final race at the Quorn Meeting on 25th April will receive £1000 with the second receiving £650 with the third receiving £350.
